Maya “Caltys” Henckel, Valiance’s new recruit, first woman in ERL history


On the side of the Esports Balkan League, it’s great news that has fallen, the arrival of the first woman in a mixed roster in ERL history. Indeed, the Croatian team Valiance decided to recruit Maya “Caltys” Henckel as ADC.

Despite a desire for gender parity very present in our time, some circles are still primarily reserved for men. This is particularly the case for esports and more particularly by League of Legends. On the side of certain scenes, things change, like on VALORANT, where many women’s teams are formed, like the Cloud9 White roster for example. In the future, this should become commonplace in most esports scenes as mentalities change and women, like men, are just as capable and have the right to participate in esports.

It is surely this advance in mentalities that pushed Valiance to recruit Caltys as ADC, making it the first woman in history to play in the European Regional League on a mixed roster.

Maya “Caltys” Henckel plays as ADC since season 7 and rubbed shoulders with the professional sphere for the first time in 2018 at Excel Ladies. She was then recruited by Out of the Blue, French team, in 2019. With the tricolor formation, she wins the GIRLGAMER 2019 Esports Festival in Dubai. She then makes a short passage at Resolve Academy, who include her in their female roster but without giving her much playing time. 1.
