Jeremy Renner returns with his first project since his snowplow accident: the third season of “Mayor of Kingstown”.

One and a half years ago, on New Year’s Day 2023, Jeremy Renner (53) almost died. But the Marvel star not only survived the serious accident in which he was run over by a snow plow weighing several tons. Within an astonishingly short time, he fought his way back to his feet and back to Hollywood at the same record speed. The first fruits of this comeback can be harvested from June 3rd: That’s when the third season of Renner’s drama series “Mayor of Kingstown” starts on Paramount+.

The man for all occasions and often for the rough stuff – that’s what the series is about

If you haven’t had any contact with “Mayor of Kingstown” yet but don’t want to miss Renner’s return in front of the camera: The series is about the eponymous, fictional town of Kingstown in the US state of Michigan. Renner plays the character Mike McLusky, whose big dream has always been to escape the industrial city. But a tragedy not only forces him to stay – after his brother’s death, he has to take over the fate of the entire town.

As “mayor” of Kingstown, his main task is to mediate between the various parties, each of which has its own agenda. The order of the day: corruption, racism and injustice of all kinds.

This is what season three offers

For spoiler reasons, just this much for potential newcomers: After the death of his brother in the opening episode of season one, Mike had to cope with another blow of fate at the end of season two. The main character therefore reaches her emotional limits at the start of the new ten episodes.

A circumstance that certainly played into Renner’s hands. After all, he too had “personally reached my limits” due to the serious accident, he said recently. in conversation with “Radio Times” Parallels between reality and fiction. For the new episodes, he therefore announces significant changes for his character and the entire series: “In a way, he has also [Intimität] and gentleness. But when you reach your limits, you make some really tough decisions.”
