Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk (MDR) has been offering an inclusive audio program via its own app since 2015. The media authority has now completely relaunched its “MDR Audio” app, which has been optimized for the visually impaired and people with cognitive impairments.
Improved design for MDR Audio app
The redesign of the audio app is less about aesthetics: MDR has redesigned the menu navigation to make it easier for people with visual impairments to navigate through the content on offer. In this way, the desired podcasts, audio support for accessible television, news and audio films can be selected even more easily. The app is compatible with the mobile operating systems iOS and Android.
A barrier-free offer is an important concern of the MDR. Almost the entire program is subtitled and sign language is regularly used to support the hearing impaired. All inclusive offers of Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk can be found on its website.
