Media Creation Tool finally allows you to download Windows 11 23H2

Do you use Microsoft’s Media Creation Tool? Good news, he is now eligible for Windows 11 version 23H2. The tool can now download and allow the creation of “bootable” USB keys with the latest major update of the OS to date.

Deployed on October 30, Windows 11 version 23H2 was not compatible at its launch with the Media Creation Tool, therefore making it impossible to create USB keys bootable (for the installation of Windows on a “virgin”, freshly installed tower, for example) equipped with the latest version of Windows to date. A gap now filled.

Microsoft keeps its promise

It must be said that Microsoft admitted at the time that the Media Creation Tool only downloaded old versions of Windows. The firm quickly afterwards promised a patch to correct the problem around mid-November. A promise kept, as Gabe Frost, one of Microsoft’s executives, reported on X.com.

Remember, however, that the Media Creation Tool is, fortunately, not the only method allowing the “clean” installation of Windows on a new machine. For example, it is possible to download the Windows 11 23H2 ISO using the direct download links offered on the official Microsoft website, or third-party applications like Rufus, among others.

What’s new with Windows 11 23H2?

If you don’t remember what Windows 11 23H2 contains, here’s a quick reminder anyway. The main advantage of this new version of the OS is that it incorporates the many changes introduced by Microsoft with the Moment 4 update.

Among these new features, Copilot, native support for RAR and 7Z files, but also the arrival of a redesigned volume mixer with new capabilities, the addition of native RGB controls in the Settings application, or even the deployment of various AI-powered features.
