As the controversy surrounding the invitation of rapper Médine to the summer universities of rebellious France and environmentalists next week continues, MEP Karima Delli spoke at the microphone of Europe 1 to express her dissatisfaction. The latter wants the artist to be deprogrammed.

Since the announcement of his invitation to the summer universities which will take place on August 25, 26 and 27, the rapper Médine has not been unanimous. His arrival causes a stir within the left, especially among the Greens. The president of Europe Écologie Les Verts Marine Tondelier and the deputy Sandrine Rousseau also called on him this Friday August 18 to recognize the anti-Semitic nature of his tweet against the essayist Rachel Khan, Jewish and granddaughter of deported, which he described as “resKHANpée” on the social network X, formerly Twitter.

“Demonstrate clarity and courage”

Some MPs go further and ask the party to withdraw the invitation. For her part, the environmental MEP, Karima Delli, even launched the hashtag #MedineFallaitPasLInviter. “We are in the minority within the leadership of my party, but I am convinced that we are in the majority within the movement. So I say it quite clearly: I ask that this debate be deprogrammed”, she confides to the micro d’Europe 1. The MEP justified this position by her “ecological and left-wing woman’s convictions”.

The objective for the latter is to “show clarity and courage” to “denounce anti-Semitic remarks where they are”. Karima Delli took the opportunity to recall that Medina never deleted her tweet about Rachel Khan, “despite her somewhat convoluted apologies”. Last May, the rapper claimed a “right to make mistakes” during a public evening organized by Mediapart.
