With the film “What Happens Later” Meg Ryan celebrates her RomCom comeback. Now there is a first trailer for the romantic comedy.
Romantic comedies made her known worldwide, now Meg Ryan (61) is celebrating her return to the genre. “What Happens Later” is based on the play “Shooting Star” by Steven Dietz. Well became a first trailer for the romantic comedy has been released. Ryan, who not only took on one of the leading roles but also acted as director and co-writer, can be seen in the clip alongside “X-Files” star David Duchovny (62).
“What Happens Later”: That’s what it’s about
The two play ex-partners Bill and Willa, who get snowed in overnight at a regional airport. Their flights are delayed due to a snow storm, giving the duo time to reflect on their past together and possible failings in their relationship. “What Happens Later” is scheduled to premiere on October 13. Duchovny gave himself up in June 2023 in an interview with “People” convinced of the project. It was “really a good movie,” said the actor. The entire romantic comedy is all about him and her. It’s a sweet throwback to yesteryear.
In the 1990s, Meg Ryan was an integral part of the dream factory, particularly thanks to several romantic comedies. After classics like “Harry and Sally” (1989), “Sleepless in Seattle” (1993) and “Email for You” (1998), things have been rather quiet around Meg Ryan in the film business, especially in recent years. The last major production with her was the film “Ithaca” in 2015, in which she also sat on the director’s chair. “What Happens Later” is according to “Variety” her second directorial effort, but this is her first time directing and writing a romantic comedy.
