Mega leak on the Galaxy S22: Apparently all the details of the European version are known

The Samsung Galaxy S22 is one of the most anticipated smartphones of the year. Samsung’s Unpacked event will take place on February 9th, where the cell phone will probably be presented together with the new Galaxy Tab S8. In addition to countless leaks that we have had so far for the flagship from South Korea, there is now also the first concrete information about the German version of the S22.

  • Technical data of the German Galaxy S22 version leaked
  • According to WinFuture, it received exclusive information and current render images
  • The smartphone should be available from February 25, 2022

The new Samsung Galaxy S22 will be presented in just 14 days. In addition to the use of the Exynos 2200 chip, the smartphone is surrounded by so many leaks that one might think that Samsung no longer needs to present the cell phone itself. Many of the rumors and statements now seem to be true, as our partners at WinFuture found out. We summarize the most important key data for you again to further cheer the anticipation for the upcoming flagship from South Korea.

Before we get into the technical data, it should be said that all models of the upcoming S series will have one thing in common – the Exynos 2200 with the AMD RDNA 2 architecture. Contrary to previous assumptions, according to WinFuture, all models on the German market are equipped with Samsung’s new chip. However, the first benchmarks for the Eynos 2200 raise the question of whether this is positive or negative.

The entry-level model is the Samsung Galaxy S22. There is probably a 6.1-inch Dynamic AMOLED display here, which is marginally smaller than the 6.2-inch panel of the predecessor. The screen achieves a resolution of up to 2,340 x 1,080 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. In addition, the display should be a bit brighter, with a maximum of up to 1500 nits. The camera is probably a triple camera system, the main part of which is a 50-megapixel wide-angle sensor. The system will be complemented by a 12 MP ultra wide-angle lens and a 10 MP telephoto lens, if the rumors are confirmed.

The front camera is said to use a 10-megapixel sensor that is housed in a punch-hole notch. Samsung apparently decides to deviate from its 12-megapixel tactic with the S22. According to Stefan Trunzik from WinFuture, the main sensor now works with 50 megapixels. It would also be nice if Samsung finally used optical magnification for the telephoto camera, as is already the case with the Galaxy S21 FE.

As already mentioned, an Exynos 2200 quad-core processor is responsible for the power of the Samsung Galaxy S22. There is a choice between 128 GB and 256 GB of internal memory. For the entry-level model, the chipset will likely be paired with 8GB of RAM.

The 3,700 mAh battery can be charged either wirelessly with a Qi charger or with a cable through the USB-C 3.2 Gen1 port. Both the Samsung Galaxy S22 and the S22+ are said to be available in the colors Phantom Black, White, Pink Gold and Green and are protected according to the IP68 standard.

According to the leak, the Samsung Galaxy S22+ hardly differs from the entry-level model in many aspects. One of the main differences is the slightly larger display. Samsung’s Dynamic AMOLED X2 display is said to measure 6.6 inches and would also shrink by 0.1 inches compared to the Samsung Galaxy S21+. However, such differences in size are not really visible to the naked eye.

According to WinFuture, the Galaxy S22+ also achieves a resolution of 2,340 x 1,080 pixels and should achieve higher, maximum brightness. The panel is said to achieve an impressive 1,750 nits – a value that is only achieved when small parts of the screen are illuminated?

The WinFuture smartphones are also identical in terms of the camera. The S22+ has the same triple camera system as the S22 and uses a 50 megapixel sensor as the main camera. The Exynos 2200 chip is also responsible for driving the smartphone with up to 256 GB of internal memory and 8 GB of RAM. Another difference can be found in the battery capacity. The S22 + is said to use a battery with 4,500 mAh.

However, we cannot say at this point in time whether these minimal differences really justify the higher price.

Let’s get to the top model of the new smartphone series from South Korea. The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra will once again be at the forefront of the lineup and will not only differ from the smaller models in terms of design. According to WinFuture, the most expensive model in the lineup will appear in a more angular shell that curves to the sides. The display probably measures 6.8 inches, of course AMOLED technology is used. This would make the panel just as large as on the Galaxy S21 Ultra. It achieves a resolution of 3080 x 1440 pixels and can be up to 1750 nits bright.

The Exynos 2200 processor makes the next difference in the Ultra. Samsung allegedly differentiates between the versions again. On the one hand, you probably get the option of getting a model with 128 GB of internal memory and 8GB of RAM, and on the other hand, the Ultra model is probably also available in a version with 256 GB of internal memory (or 512GB) and 12 GB of RAM. So there will probably not actually be a 16 GB RAM version, as Roland Quandt recently suspected.

Unlike the smaller models, Samsung is said to use a quad camera system for the Ultra. The centerpiece here is probably a 108-megapixel wide-angle lens, even if the SoC would support up to 200 megapixels. So the rumor about such a camera has not come true. The camera system is supplemented by a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle lens and two 10-megapixel telephoto lenses. There is also a 40-megapixel selfie camera on the front. So the whole thing reads like the camera system in the S21 Ultra.

In terms of the battery, too, the Ultra probably goes a step further. The battery of the flagship has a capacity of up to 5,000 mAh, should the leaks come true. But now we come to one of the special features: The supplied S-Pen. Unlike its predecessor, this finds its place in the housing. Due to this bonus, the Ultra is also often referred to as the successor to the Note.

The S22 Ultra will also have a slightly different color palette than its smaller siblings. So there should be different versions in black, white, green and an extravagant burgundy shade.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 and S22+ seem to be quite similar in many aspects. That said, apart from the Exynos 2200 chipset, there are some other similarities that all three models could share. On the one hand, all S22 models are expected to be equipped with Android 12 and a Samsung One UI 4.1 interface. On the other hand, they probably all use the same radio links and connections. WLAN-ax, USB-C 3.2 Gen 1, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, 5G and a fingerprint sensor located under the display.
