Victory for Meghan Markle since her half-sister was dismissed by a Florida court in her defamation lawsuit.

Definitely, in the face of justice, Meghan Markle has a string of victories. And for good reason, already in December 2022, she had win his trial against Associated Newspapers Limited, the publisher of the DailyMail. The Duchess of Sussex was suing the media group for violation of the right to privacy after the publication of certain passages of a letter which she had sent to her father after her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018. And today is the defamation lawsuit what he tried his half-sister Samantha Markle, which the 41-year-old former actress has just won. Indeed, in Florida, U.S. District Judge Charlene Edwards Honeywell granted him a motion to dismiss. Samantha had filed her case in March 2022, when she sued Meghan Markle for “defamation and insulting lies” as well as “malicious lies“citing various alleged cases, and especially the Duchess’s highly publicized interview with Oprah Winfrey, alongside her husband Harry, dating from March 2021, during which Meghan had, among other things, claimed to be a “only child“.

Samantha Markle, 58, was asking for more 69,000 euros in damages, but Judge Charlene Honeywell ruled otherwise. In her conclusion delivered on March 30, 2023, the judge considers that Meghan only expressed one opinionas reported by BBC. She also pointed out that Samantha Markle could “redeposit” a claim for damages for false prejudice. Note that Meghan’s half-sister also sued for being quoted in the book Finding Freedom (Harry and Meghan, free), journalists Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand and in which the Sussexes took part. She thus accuses Meghan of having exposed her to “humiliation, shame and hatred worldwide” and therefore claims approximately 68,000 euros in damages.

Indeed, the son of King Charles III has been in the United Kingdom since Monday, March 27, on the occasion of his lawsuit against Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL), which notably holds the Mail on Sunday and the DailyMail. Along with several public figures including singer Elton John, and actresses Liz Hurley and Sadie Frost, the Duke of Sussex sued joint legal action against the famous press group, which all accuse of having repeatedly invaded their privacy by using unscrupulous methods. An unexpected and very scrutinized comeback since Prince Harry had not set foot in England since the funeral of his illustrious grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, in September 2022.
