Bill Gates, 65, and Melinda French Gates are officially divorced. A judge carried out the separation on Monday, according to the “Business Insider” from court records.
The marriage dissolution documents also state that Melinda will not change her name and will not receive any spousal support. The couple, who have three adult children together, announced their divorce in May after 27 years of marriage. They declared that they could no longer «grow together».
“Separation agreement” regulates assets worth billions
The court’s final divorce decision states that the two have signed a “separation agreement”. This was not submitted in the divorce proceedings.
This separation agreement governs how the ex-couple will split their assets and court fees. Each of the Gates children are 18 years of age or older, so the court has not established a maintenance plan.
Since Melinda and Bill Gates’ divorce became known, rumors have risen. Bill Gates, $ 124 billion, admitted having an affair while married to Melinda.
