British manufacturer of Hi-Fi equipment, Cambridge Audio tried its hand at true wireless headphones a few years ago with the Melomania 1+ in particular. At the time, the brand had not managed to make its mark among the myriad of competing models, but it seems to want to try the adventure again, this time relying fully on Qualcomm’s expertise in terms of connectivity, voice capture and noise reduction.

The Melomania 100 stand out from the brand’s other headphones first of all with a redesigned and quite imposing design. Cambridge Audio assures, however, that its headphones would be very comfortable thanks in particular to five sets of tips provided with purchase. The headphones are also IPX4 certified and therefore resistant to splashing water.

Cambridge Audio Melomania M100

On the audio side, Cambridge Audio relied on its expertise and experience in the world of Hi-Fi to design these Melomania M100. The latter feature a 10 mm speaker powered by a class A/B amplifier directly inspired by the amps designed by the brand. It will also be possible to adjust the sound as you wish thanks to a seven-band equalizer within the new Melomania Connect app.

Beyond the design and the audio part, Qualcomm is in charge. Thus, the Melomania M100 are equipped with different chips designed by the American firm and which manage the hands-free kit, noise reduction and connectivity parts. The headphones are therefore based on the Snapdragon Sound suite with support for aptX Lossless and aptX Adaptive codecs. In addition, they are equipped with a Bluetooth 5.3 chip compatible with the new Bluetooth LE Audio standard and promise support for the LC3 codec and the Auracast protocol. A Game mode would also be included, promising a latency of less than 80 ms.

Cambridge Audio promises a more than substantial battery life of 10 hours per charge with noise reduction engaged. The case would contain a little more than two additional charges and is compatible with wireless charging.
