Many athletes and business people swear by motivational speakers and positive thoughts. We show you what constitutes mental training and how you can use it.

Mental Training: Introduction

Mental training is an incompletely defined umbrella term for various strategies and techniques designed to strengthen one’s own psyche. Amongst others, the following goals can be pursued:

  • Strengthening self-confidence
  • Train social and emotional competence
  • Strengthen cognitive abilities
  • Better handling of stress and pressure to perform
  • Perform better by mental strength

Mental Training: What can I use it for?

  • Sports / Movement
  • job
  • More power in a stressful situation
  • Training to overcome fear
  • Training for losing weight
  • With excitement
  • Better relationships with fellow human beings and with yourself

Positive visualization is powerful!

  • A key part of mental training is dealing with anxiety and one’s own imagination. Beliefs are so powerful that they determine our actions significantly. In particular, the visualization with positive thoughts is one of the strongest techniques when it comes to mastering challenges.
  • Through visualization and methods of imagination, you imagine in your mind how you want to think, act and feel in a given situation. Scientists have long demonstrated that our minds can not distinguish between imagination and reality.
  • Imagine a state you want as detailed and alive as you can. How does the moment taste and smell? How do you feel about it? Repeat the situation in the head regularly, in such a way that each time you triumph and reach your goal.
  • Basically, every one of us does mental training every day. The problem: It happens unconsciously and consists for the most part of recurring negative thoughts. Phrases such as “I can not do that” or “He will certainly respond badly to me” stir up fear and insecurity instead of fighting it. With active mental training, you can re-condition yourself and empower yourself with positive beliefs.

Mental Training: What options are there?

  • Creativity Techniques : From brainstorming methods like the 6-hats method to the mind map – all techniques that train and enhance your creativity are also part of mental training
  • Relaxation Exercise: Peaceful breathing techniques calm the mind at the same time. In particular, the meditation is very good to push your own thoughts aside. We’ll show you how to learn meditation .
  • Cognitive Training: It is about training one’s own memory and strengthening one’s old age. Brain jogging can be done, for example, in the form of crossword puzzles or other games.
  • Positive Thoughts: As already mentioned, you can use imagination techniques (visualization / imagination) to strengthen your thoughts in such a way that you have already achieved a desired result in your mind.
  • NLP: Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), like visualization, is one of the psychotherapeutic methods. A self-confident movement and movements can be trained and elements of hypnosis can be incorporated.
