Mercedes unveils its very imposing electric SUV EQS

As agreed, Mercedes formalizes a brand new electric model: the EQS SUV.

This is the third model with this architecture developed specifically for electric vehicles at Mercedes.

A new EQS SUV from Mercedes

Mercedes is proud to announce today its new EQS SUV, a model that shares a long wheelbase (3.2 m) with the EQS sedan, but which claims a height of more than 20 centimeters compared to the latter. Despite its “SUV” side, this new model has benefited from particular care regarding the aerodynamic section.

On the engine side, we can enjoy here a 450+ version, i.e. 360 hp and 568 Nm, and a 580 4Matic version, here with 544 hp and 858 Nm of torque. Mercedes announces a range of around 600 km, via a 107.8 kWh battery.

Mercedes announces that its EQS SUV is equipped with an electric traction chain (eATS) on the rear axle, while the versions with 4MATIC also have an eATS on the front axle. On board, there is the imposing Hyperscreen MBUX system (optional) 1.40 m wide, offering in particular a 12.3 “OLED screen reserved for the passenger. On the audio side, the Mercedes EQS SUV is Dolby Atmos certified, nothing only that.

Carbon neutral production

Mercedes also promises a completely CO-neutral produced EQS SUV₂which allows the manufacturer to get closer to zero-emission mobility and its “2039 Ambition”, i.e. an entire fleet of carbon-neutral vehicles.

The launch of this new Mercedes EQS SUV is scheduled for the end of 2022 (or the beginning of 2023). The prices have not yet been formalized, but count at least 130,000 euros to slip into this new electric SUV with the star.
