(CercleFinance.com) – German chemicals and pharmaceuticals group Merck announced on Wednesday that it has partnered with US memory maker Micron Technology to develop more sustainable gas supply technologies for the semiconductor industry .
After a year of collaboration, Micron is currently testing a ‘low global warming potential’ fluorinated electronics gas developed by Merck researchers.
The next step will consist in validating this process with a view to definitively replacing the fluorinated gases with high global warming potential currently used by chip manufacturers.
