Merck: UK orders 1.75M anti-covid pills

(CercleFinance.com) – Merck and Ridgeback Biotherapeutics announced today that the UK government plans to purchase an additional 1.75 million doses of molnupiravir, an antiviral pill to fight Covid.

The government had previously ordered 480,000 doses and this new contract brings the number of doses of molnupiravir ordered by London to 2.23 million.

This treatment will be marketed in the UK under the trade name Lagevrio.

As a reminder, molnupiravir received conditional marketing authorization in the United Kingdom in early November, as a treatment for mild to moderate COVID-19 in adults.

An emergency use authorization application for molnupiravir is under review by the United States Food and Drug Administration.
