The Met Gala is coming up again in a few months, more precisely in May. This time, Penélope Cruz and Roger Federer are among the co-hosts.
On May 1, 2023, the fashion event of the year will once again take place in New York with the Met Gala. Anna Wintour, 73, editor-in-chief of US fashion magazine “Vogue”, has been the host of the gala for more than two decades – and once again welcomes special guests this year.
The star hosts: Two actresses, a singer and a tennis star
In 2023, actress Michaela Coel, singer Dua Lipa, Oscar winner Penélope Cruz and former tennis star Roger Federer will be her co-hosts. Among other things, the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art has now announced this on Instagram, which benefits from the proceeds of the annual fundraising gala.
In addition, countless stars and greats from the world of fashion and the entertainment industry will certainly be presenting often unusual creations on the red carpet. In 2022, Regina King, Blake Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds and Lin-Manuel Miranda were invited to co-chair alongside Wintour.
Met Gala 2023 honors Karl Lagerfeld
This year’s Met Gala will honor German fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, who passed away in February 2019. A motto that is particularly close to the heart of co-host Penélope Cruz. Penélope was a Chanel brand ambassador for a long time, regularly wore the creations of the native of Hamburg to important red carpet events and even walked the catwalk at Karl Lagergeld’s last fashion show. The exhibition “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” will show almost 150 works by the designer and will be open to visitors from May 5th, 2023.
