Thousands of users reported disruptions to Instagram and Facebook on Tuesday afternoon. The Meta company was said to be working on the problem.

Instagram and Facebook are currently experiencing massive disruptions. On Tuesday afternoon (March 5th) thousands of users reported The portal “allestoerungen.de” had problems with Meta’s social media services. For example, the message “Feed could not be reloaded” appears in the Instagram app. Facebook Messenger is also offline, and WhatsApp and the relatively new meta service Threads also reported some disruptions.

Numerous users also reported problems with the services on the X platform (formerly Twitter). The hashtags #instagramdown and #facebookdown are currently in first and second place among German trends. Apparently it’s not just Germany that is affected, but users worldwide: On the tracking portal “downdetector.com” More than 600,000 incident reports were received for Facebook and almost 100,000 for Instagram.

Meta “working on it”

It is unclear how the disruption occurred. In recent years there have been repeated failures in the various meta services. Andy Stone, head of communications at Meta Group, confirmed the problems in an X post and announced that the company was working on it.
