Everyone should have this insurance cover

We are exposed to risk every day. Injuries, accidents, compensation – it can happen to anyone and, in case of doubt, can be really expensive. Fortunately, there is suitable insurance cover for this. This article shows which policies really make sense.

Think about your four-legged friend too

Dogs and cats are among the most popular pets. But a visit to the vet can quickly become very expensive. Pet insurance offers cover for this. Depending on the tariff taken out, it covers treatment costs up to a certain amount or even in full.

Liability insurance for four-legged friends is also recommended. This means that no-one has to worry if, for example, a dog throws a vase at someone else’s house or has other small mishaps outside their own four walls.

Voluntary health insurance

Not only pets, but also people should have the best possible health insurance. The statutory benefits in this area are often inadequate, meaning that patients have to dig into their own pockets. Additional insurance can also help here, for example for hospitalisation, dentures or other treatments and medications.

Health insurance when travelling abroad

Health insurance is usually only valid in your own country. But if you want to enjoy the best time of the year without any worries, you should also make provisions for illness. Experts therefore recommend health insurance that is valid worldwide.

Numerous insurance companies offer this for a small budget, for example with a four-week validity period. If you travel several times a year and want the best possible protection, you should take out one-year cover.

Many credit card issuers offer free travel health insurance together with the card. However, the conditions are decisive here. Is the family also insured or does the cover only apply to the cardholder?

Personal liability insurance

Anyone who causes damage to someone else usually has to answer for it. Such damage is often associated with high financial costs, sometimes even threatening the existence of the company. This is why personal liability insurance is particularly recommended for all adults, as well as children. It is worth asking the insurance company for a family tariff. This often makes it cheaper.

Household contents insurance for your own damage

If furniture and the like are damaged in your own household, your household contents insurance will cover you. The sum insured is important. If you have expensive interiors (such as expensive electrical appliances), you should make sure to increase the sum insured. The insured living space is also crucial. If you specify too little in your contract, you may have problems in the event of a claim if the actual living space is larger.

When moving house, anyone who has taken out household contents insurance should check again and make any necessary improvements. Has the number of square metres changed in the new living environment? Are there any new (more expensive) furnishings? It is usually easy to adjust the insurance conditions online for an existing policy.

Insuring your home

Property owners should always think ahead. Rain, storms, hail or other disasters can cause damage to your own four walls. Owners usually have to pay for maintenance work themselves if they do not have insurance.

In order to be able to live carefree in the long term, homeowners insurance or natural hazard insurance can help. It’s all about the small print because the sum insured should be as high as possible.
