Meta Quest 3: Asgard’s Wrath 2 is not yet optimized for Quest 3, but in what case is this a problem?

Asgard’s Wrath 2 is out and while it’s unanimously praised on Meta Quest 2, some Quest 3 users don’t feel like it’s got the kick they expected. The executive producer of the game having specified an upcoming UPDATE graphic for the latest helmet (without specific date), should we wait (as on PSVR 2) the optimization patch or should we crack it now?

If you don’t have our Quest Games Optimizer tool, launching the game on Meta Quest 3 may be out of step with your expectations. Yes, when we launch the game, we see a very pixelated mummy and aliasedhow to explain it?

LThe Meta Quest 3 is tuned to boost the definition of Quest 2 games of the order of 30%, to display them in 1680×1760. Except that you are aware that the number of pixels of the headset has also, compared to the Quest 2, increased. Unfortunately, the ratio is not optimal, which creates image blur, pixelation andaliasing (staircase effect).

In other words, if you take a Quest 2 and a Quest 3, and you put the same game at an equal definition, well the overall rendering of the textures will be sharper on the 2 than on the 3! Just because the gap between the rendering used and the maximum rendering of the headset is less on the Meta Quest 2 than on the Meta Quest 3.

The same thing applies to flat screens, you will obtain better visual finesse if you display 720p on a 1080p panel than 720 on a 4k panel. For Quest 3, it’s exactly the same thing!

Gaming with Quest Games Optimizer (QGO)

If you have our softwarewell, thank you, and for the new ones (or the most curious), you will not regret it since everyone who used it came (in the case of Asgard’s Wrath II) on social networks to preach the good word.

Once put through the QGO mill, Asgard’s Wrath 2 does not disappoint.

Look at the difference: on the left the base game, on the right the game optimized by Quest Games Optimize :

For the moment, and given the lifespan of the title, you will have to wait a few days for a profile to appear QGO optimized official. What we can already tell you is that you can play at 2400p (with a FFR in Medium and one GPU in Insane). If developers bring additional and improved graphic effects to their title, so much the better since our software will follow this evolution.

Note, however, that as strange as it may seem, some blurry and smudged textures can be juxtaposed with finer and detailed texturesif the whole game is however homogeneous and impressive (see photo on the right), it is true that it is a stain (see photo on the left), especially when the first ones appear so close to the player.

Yes and no. If you don’t have QGO and don’t plan to buy it, you can wait a few weeks (or months) before a possible patch. Here’s what the executive producer revealed (on Reddit) regarding the famous update:

We heard you. Regarding the visual improvements of the game on Quest 3, we will say more next week (December 18 to 24). They’re coming very soon, that’s all I can say for now.

We get a ton of questions. Be patient. Thank you for your support !

On the other hand, for those who do not want to wait, Quest Games Optimizer extends its arms to them and will allow demanding players to quickly obtain the sacrosanct graphics boost so requested. They will not need to wait for the patches optimization on all past and future games.

The latest mixed reality headset is available on the website Meta and on Amazon. The model with 128 GB of storage costs 549.99 euros while the one with 512 GBit is sold at 699.99 euros.
