All store apps Meta Quest now show support for Quest 3 when viewed from the virtual reality application of the Meta Store.
The headset, which has yet to be officially revealed, appears in the “More Info” section of all Store apps and is listed right after the Quest Pro. However, if you visit the store from the mobile application, you will see the term “New Quest” there instead, while from a web browser, it is the text “Compatible Unknown” which is displayed. Approaching the Quest Gaming Showcase1er next June, it is entirely legitimate to imagine that the reveal of the next helmet VR of Meta take place at that time. However, this seems unlikely, because this event is intended to talk about games and not hardware. Indeed, whether it is Quest 2 or even the Quest Prothese two headsets were officially revealed at the conference Meta Connect which traditionally takes place in October. It is therefore unlikely that the Meta Quest 3 – whose name is not yet official – will be announced at this time and that this surprise display on the Meta Quest Store is simply an “error”.
As a reminder, the Meta Quest 3indeed scheduled for 2023 according to the words of the American manufacturer, has been talked about via information discovered by the data miner Samulia which have been posted by the YouTuber and analyst Brad Lynch. It started in September 2022 (read: “Meta Quest 3 RUMOR: appearance and specs leaked, let’s take a look at the owner”), then it continued last March, with even more details (read “ Meta Quest 3 RUMOR: Tempting New Information Leaked”). We then learned that the helmet would probably not haveEye Tracking nor of Face Tracking.
To finish with these “leaks”, the most beautiful was that of the roadmap of Meta by 2027 that The Verge has published. According to this presentation, Mark Rabkin, the vice president of virtual reality at Metareportedly told employees that the Quest 3 would be twice as thin and at least twice as powerful as the Quest 2, but would cost “a bit more”. Rabkin would also have mentioned that the Quest 3 would have a “Smart Guardian” and put a strong emphasis on mixed reality throughout the home, with the arrival of 41 new dedicated apps and games.
Surprise announcement at Meta Gaming Showcase 2023 or error, whatever it is, the Meta Quest 3 is the subject that will hold our attention in the weeks and months to come.
