While waiting for Apple to finally decide to draw its mixed reality headset, Meta seems to be preparing to fight back. Facebook’s parent company is preparing a new model for its Quest range.
We must therefore expect a more efficient helmet… but also extremely expensive!
A real latecomer
We have been talking relentlessly about the future VR/AR headset imagined by Apple for several months now. Unfortunately, the American firm was obviously faced with problems during the design of its device. This is why the latter has been pushed back several times internally. So much so that its launch should not take place before the beginning of 2023. Thus, the official presentation of the device is not for now.
Never mind, the competition is taking the lead in order to thwart Apple’s headphones which could be revolutionary for the sector. Bloomberg has just unearthed new information about the next virtual and augmented reality helmet designed by Meta. Originally known by the code name Project Cambriathis version is revealed a little more thanks to details recovered in the mobile application allowing to configure the devices of the brand of Mark Zuckerberg.
A classic name and a price that hurts
Thus, the headset in question would be called Meta Quest Pro. This is an important project for the American firm, which wants to directly compete with Apple in the field of VR. Without going into details, Bloomberg evokes a device much more powerful than the classic Meta Quest. High-resolution external cameras would be included for a better simulation of augmented reality. In addition, eye tracking will be more precise, more available storage and new controllers are also planned.
As for the Meta Quest Pro announcement, it could happen by the end of the year. Generally, the brand unveils its new products around October. As for the price, it is rather dissuasive since it would exceed the symbolic bar of 1000 dollars.
