In 2021, Facebook became Meta to reflect its investment in the field of virtual or augmented reality. We must now concretize this strategy with new, very tangible products. The Information site was able to get their hands on the roadmap for the next Meta devices. By 2024, the company would have planned to launch no less than 4 VR headsets, not to mention its projects around augmented reality.

Project Cambria: the new flagship

Perhaps the most anticipated headset is Meta’s Project Cambria. Not the Cambridge project, that’s the Facebook scandal, but Cambria. This helmet has recently been talked about through a leak revealing several images of the design.

This is truly a very high-end product, which should primarily target professionals at first. We are indeed talking about a device marketed at 800 dollars according to The Information. Meta has since confirmed that the sale price will actually be “ far superior to the 800 dollars advanced by the media.

According to rumors, the Cambria helmet would be equipped with two 2.48-inch mini-LED screens with a definition of 2160 x 2160 pixels. We would also have the right to a follow-up of the gaze and the face. Above all, it would be able to make the real world appear through the lenses for mixed reality experiences. The presentation of the helmet would be scheduled for the month of September, according to The Information.

Funston: the Cambria Gen 2 helmet

Roadmap obliges, we now know that Meta does not want to stop with the Cambria helmet. Its successor is already being studied for a launch scheduled for 2024. No information about this helmet except that we can also imagine a very high selling price.

Stinson and Cardiff: for the general public

Fortunately, Meta has not only planned very high-end helmets. The Quest 2 and its floor price will also have the right to a successor. Two actually, first Stinson for a 2023 release and Cardiff for a 2024 launch.

The article does not say if the prices of the next Quest helmets will be even more aggressive.
