Konami has just recently shared a first gameplay video for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eaterthe remake of the third opus.
The project was presented to us last May in a short teaser. Through the Xbox Partner Preview held last night, we were able to better see the game in action, powered by none other than the Unreal Engine 5. And suffice to say that this “Pre Alpha” version of this Delta episode gives us already want to roll in the mud and eat snake.
Return to a jungle more alive than ever
Remember, Hideo Kojima hit the headlines in 2004 on PS2 with the excellent Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, which was actually a prequel to the adventures of Solid Snake and Raiden in the previous two games. We played the “father” of the three Snakes, Big Boss himself, in his early youth. Almost 20 years later, this unique title in the legendary franchise returns to us in the form of a remake which, despite its early state in the video below, already flatters our retina.
The Unreal Engine 5 really seems to bring the jungle to life, which will be our playground and infiltration. The fauna and flora that inhabit it appear luxuriant, and the behavior of the mud around Big Boss appears particularly realistic.
Gameplay-wise, it seems that Metal Gear Solid Delta will remain very faithful to the original game, with slow and methodical movements as well as a mandatory first-person view for aiming. To see all this for ourselves, however, we will have to be patient. The remake is expected on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S at a date yet to be determined. Big Boss will therefore have to wait quietly in a box at Konami before coming out.
