Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Konami Speaks Out On Hideo Kojima’s Involvement

During the Playstation Showcase last week, Konami unveiled Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, a remake of its cult stealth game for the latest generation platforms. Something to delight the fans, even if one detail is important: the original designer is no longer in the team.

You all know the story, Hideo Kojima gave birth in the pain of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Painbefore being thanked by Konami (cancelling in passing Silent Hills, his future project). Since then, the Japanese studio has released Metal Gear Survive without Hideo, while the latter independently founded Kojima Productions and launched the excellent, but confusing death stranding.

The Japanese designer’s games are all stamped “A Hideo Kojima Game”, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater was no exception to the rule, but as you might have guessed, Hideo Kojima is not at all involved in the development of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, as well as Yoji Shinkawa, artist on the franchise. A spokesperson spoke with IGN and said:

They (Kojima Productions) are not involved. However, the development team will work hard to create this remake, but also the ports (Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection) so that they can be played on many platforms by many players all over the world.

But concretely, who is working on Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater? Well, Konami explains that they are former franchise developers still in the studio, who will be helped by Virtuosa studio specializing in ports and remakes who has already worked on the license SMG. From the first rumors of a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater in 2001, the name of Virtuos was mentioned.

Besides the teaser released last week, we don’t yet know much about Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eaterwe will have to wait until its release on an unknown date on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X | S, before knowing if Konami And Virtuos managed to pay homage to Hideo Kojima’s title without involving him in development. From here you can find Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Experience To €23.99 on Gamesplanet.
