Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1, scary details, but a PS4 version announced

In addition to announcing Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eatera remake of MGS 3: Snake Eateron PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, Konami unveiled last May Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1, a compilation of the first three Metal Gear Solid for these same platforms, HD Edition.

The title will also arrive on Switch, it was made official during a Nintendo Direct at the very beginning of summer, but now Konami announcement now that Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 will also be available on PlayStation 4. This latest version has obviously been in high demand by players, the studio wants to please them, but it will apparently have to wait a little longer to get your hands on this PS4 port.

Moreover, several journalists have recently been invited to try this Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1including our colleagues from Nintendo Life who obviously focused on the Switch version… and that’s scary. Journalist Alex Olney explains that Konami simply took over the versions HD Edition from Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater released on PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2012, the logo is present and even the “© 2012 Konami” is still there! And that’s not all : Nintendo Life explain that the Switch version displays 720p at 30 fps, where the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions ran at 60 fps at the time. If it is easy to type on the console of nintendomuch less powerful than its direct competitors, it can still do much better than machines over 10 years old…

The journalist asked for an explanation from Konami, the Japanese studio explains that the resolution and the frame rate should be the same as the versions HD Edition of the time, so in 720p at 60 fps. For 720p, that’s going to make a few eyes bleed in 2023, but for frame rate, we will have to wait and see the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC versions, because for the moment, the Switch does not reach 60 fps. Note however that Nintendo Life is delighted with the content, with a separate menu for each major opus, but it is above all the technical part that is disturbing.

The release date of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 is set for October 23, 2023 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch, then later on PS4. You can pre-order the compilation at €59.99 on Amazon.
