Métropole de Lyon Eating disorders: a week of prevention with young people

In France, 900,000 people are affected by eating disorders (TCA). With the health crisis and confinements, the year 2020 was marked by a +30% increase in requests for care, according to TCA professionals.

To raise awareness of these disorders, the association Corps en Révolte is launching, this year, in the Rhône, the first awareness week on the TCA, from 1er to February 7. For this first, the volunteers of this association will meet the students of the University Lyon 2, this Tuesday 1er February and Wednesday February 2 (1).

“Healing is more likely, if the diagnosis is made early”

“As the student population is very sensitive to these difficulties, a partnership has been established with the Lyon university health service for an awareness-raising action among students from Lyon 2”, explains the president of the association, Joséphine Velcof, which underlines that “cure is more possible, if the diagnosis is made early and if the care begins early in the disease”.

Friday, interventions will also be carried out in three classes (2nd, 1st, Terminal) of the Jacques Brel high school, in Vénissieux.

Created in Lyon in 2016 by people suffering from eating disorders, Corps en Révolte aims to promote information and knowledge about eating disorders, in particular to fight against discrimination and prejudice.
