This Saturday, May 21, 25 European cities sent their best tram drivers to Leipzig, in the heart of Germany. Budapest, Berlin, Vienna, Porto, Luxembourg, Moscow, Florence… The teams traveled to compete in the European tram drivers’ championship. This year, two TCL drivers were in the running to defend the French colors.
Relive the performance of the French team and TCL drivers in this video at 1’26’45 and 5’15’53.
Technical events and “tram bowling”
The teams had to carry out a course of technical tests, asking the participants to drive with restraint and precision (precision stopping, evaluation of the lateral distance, door stop, speed and estimation of braking, etc.) But that’s not all, the competition ended with a rather surprising final event: literally, “tram bowling”.
If Hanover (Germany) climbed on the top step of the podium by winning the gold medal, the Lyon team came second in the general classification. A way to illustrate the professionalism of our local drivers.
