Métropole de Lyon Two TCL drivers win a medal at the European Tram Driving Championship


This Saturday, May 21, 25 European cities sent their best tram drivers to Leipzig, in the heart of Germany. Budapest, Berlin, Vienna, Porto, Luxembourg, Moscow, Florence… The teams traveled to compete in the European tram drivers’ championship. This year, two TCL drivers were in the running to defend the French colors.

Technical events and “tram bowling”

The teams had to carry out a course of technical tests, asking the participants to drive with restraint and precision (precision stopping, evaluation of the lateral distance, door stop, speed and estimation of braking, etc.) But that’s not all, the competition ended with a rather surprising final event: literally, “tram bowling”.
