Michael Lonsdale: James Bond villain turned 89 years old

Mourning for Michael Lonsdale: The actor, who appeared as the "James Bond" villain, died at the age of 89.

The French-British actor Michael Lonsdale is dead. He is said to have died on Monday (September 21) in Paris, as the French news magazine "L'Obs" first reported. Lonsdale's agent then confirmed the sad news to the AFP news agency. The mime was 89 years old.

The actor is best known to "James Bond" fans as Roger Moore's (1927-2017) adversary Hugo Drax. In 1979 published "James Bond 007 – Top Secret" (original title: "Moonraker") Lonsdale gave the villain. In the course of his career he participated in over 200 film and theater projects. In 2011 he received the French César for his supporting role in the drama "Von Menschen und Göttern". One of Lonsdale's last appearances is the one in the thriller "The end is just the beginning".
