Michael Patrick Kelly: Appearance in Cologne Cathedral in front of completely empty seats

The musician Michael Patrick Kelly (42, "In Exile") is also breaking new ground in the corona crisis. At the invitation of Cologne cathedral provost Gerd Bachner, he was allowed to give a concert alone and without an audience in the world-famous Cologne Cathedral. The roughly 30-minute performance will now be broadcast on the artist's YouTube channel on May 31 from 12 p.m. An already published trailer gives first impressions.

Kelly not only performed her own compositions, but also the Bob Dylan classic "Knocking On Heaven's Door". "It was very moving to sing in this empty cathedral, where 30,000 visitors come and go every day," said Kelly after the recordings. He wanted to send out a sign of hope in the mood of future fears and isolation.

Between the songs, Kelly also gives an insight into his world of thought, thinking aloud about the social upheaval caused by the virus and other current threats such as famines, wars or climate change. As musical guests, Kelly also invited the rapper MoTrip (32) and metal singer Jennifer haben (24), who performed on the roof of the cathedral and still played together with Kelly in the building using technical tricks.
