On January 2, 2016, Michel Delpech left this world, leaving behind three children as well as his descendants at heart: Pierre-Emmanuel and Pauline. At the time, the sad news was brutal for the latter.
Emblematic figure of the yéyé genre, Michel Delpech has made a succession of generations dance to iconic titles such as For a flirt or At Laurette. But the French voice passed away on January 2, 2016 defeated by un throat and tongue cancer against which he fought for almost four years. This disappearance deeply marked his clan as well as his two stepchildren Pierre-Emmanuel and Pauline, that his wife Geneviève had from a previous relationship. “I felt like I was going to see him again the next day. Until the moment I realize thatthere will be no tomorrow and that I will never see him again and this idea … It’s unbearable”, Declared Pauline on the set of A thousand and one lives in 2016, struck by the disappearance of her stepfather.
Michel Delpech had three children with Geneviève: Garance, Barthélémy and Emmanuel. But the interpreter of You make me high see you soon taken under his wing his stepchildren, as Pauline, interviewed by Frédéric Lopez, indicated at the time: “I loved this man. He welcomed me, he loved me, he educated me, he carried me.”And to continue:“He took me everyday with him in the studio and he took care of me, he didn’t have to.”A singer who has always loved to share his passion for musice with his blond heads, it is also the observation that his son Emmanuel in the columns of Gala in 2016: “I remember our road trips. […] They were precious moments because we knew that when we started we were going to put CDs and to be discovered pieces.”

The grief of his widow
On the death of her husband, Genevieve Delpech to her too shared his grief publicly. The singer’s widow has above all expressed regret as to the medical care of his deceased companion: “For one year, I kept telling him to go see a doctor. […] Michel told me before he died, a hundred times, ‘If I had listened to you …‘”, she declared with difficulty, as transcribed by our colleagues from Purepeople in June 2020.
