While Michel Drucker created controversy during his appearance on the show Quelle époque, one of the France Télévision journalists did not really appreciate the presenter’s comments regarding Marie Portolano, and wanted to let him know.
Historic face of French television, Michael Drucker was a sports journalist when he began his career on the small screen. A first job that he will exercise again on France Télévisions during the Paris Olympic Games in 2024. Appearing on the show Quelle époque! Saturday January 13, 2024 on France 2, Michel Drucker took the initiative to question his colleague Marie Portolano.“It’s the sports journalist who’s talking to you, Marie. Did you really suffer with your sports friends?”, he asked her. The presenter was here referring to the documentary entitled I’m not a bitch, I’m a journalistwhich the journalist had produced when she worked in the Canal+ sports department.
“I wasn’t the only one…“Marie Portolano retorted. “They really had inappropriate attitudes, really?”Michel Drucker then insisted. “Well, there were a lot of them anyway. I’m not the only one to say it since there are 18 of us testifying in this documentary and I would have even more sought out sisters“, the Télématin presenter finally replied. Rugby specialist, sports journalist Cécile Grès, who officiates on the France Télévisions channels, did not much appreciate Michel Drucker’s questions towards her colleague. It is also expressed on this subject in the Team. “I was sad… I find it a shame to question the words of women when 18 people, and there could have been more, tell the same thing. It would be nice to accept the idea that this exists” she said.
Cécile Grès: “Let’s at least give women this presumption of truthfulness”
“I would love to talk about it with him because I don’t know if he wanted to limit the woman’s speech or if it was a primary question. In any case, I don’t know any woman in the documentary who took pleasure in telling her story. It was emotionally very difficult before, during, after… and still today. Let’s at least leave this presumption of truth to women, if we don’t want to believe it right away. When I saw this sequence, I said to myself: ‘It’s not over’“, then added Cécile Grès.
