Dn its edition of February 2, the newspaper The world headlined on its front page: “Pension reform: the balance of power is taking hold”. In other words, public opinion is more than ever hostile to the government text. At the very bottom of the same first page, a more discreet title indicated: “Lang and Le Drian rivals for the IMA”. It was necessary to understand that Jack Lang, president of the Arab World Institute for ten years, is applying for a fourth term, a renewal that Jean-Yves Le Drian challenges him. Frankly, both men deserved better than this footer.
Because their fight – the other big pension battle, no doubt – undoubtedly has a political meaning that goes far beyond their little people. The two men, casually, are the light horses of the mac reform…
