The Tragic Family Story of Michelle Hunziker’s Ex-Husband

There are family tragedies that provide a lot of material for a Hollywood film: the story of Tomaso Trussardi and his family is one of them. Michelle Hunziker’s ex-husband first loses his father and then his older brother in a car accident.
“I just want to remember you, big brother…”: With these words, Michelle Hunzikers, 46, ex-husband Tomaso Trussardi, 40, shares a picture of himself and his brother Francesco Trussardi from their youth on Instagram. What many do not know: he died in a car accident at the age of 29. This fate befell the family of fashion entrepreneurs four years earlier: Tomaso’s father, Nicola Trussardi, also died in a car accident in 1999. He was 56 years old.
Tomaso Trussardi first loses his father and then his brother
It’s a story that could have come straight out of a Hollywood film: the entrepreneur and head of the Italian global fashion group Trussardi died on Wednesday April 15, 1999 in a Milan hospital from severe head injuries sustained as a result of a car accident that happened almost two days earlier happened, suffered.
On Tuesday night, Tomaso Trussardi’s father was on his way from Milan to his home in Bergamo when he suddenly lost control of his Mercedes on the autobahn and had an accident. According to Italian media reports, the police assumed the driver had a health problem. Nicola Trussardi was then taken to a Milan clinic with severe head injuries, underwent surgery, but did not survive the internal injuries.

Italy speaks of the Trussardi curse
After the death of his father, Tomaso Trussardi’s brother Francesco took over the management of the fashion group. However, that should only last four years. Because the then only 29-year-old had an accident with his car. The fatal accident occurred on Sunday January 26, 2003 when Francesco’s Ferrari crashed into a lamppost near Bergamo in northern Italy. Italian media quickly spoke of a curse that is said to have occupied the Trussardi family.

In the years that followed, Tomaso’s sister, Beatrice Trussardi, 51, served as executive director of Truassardi. Today the majority of the family business has been sold, only 40 percent still belong to Tomaso Trussardi and his widowed mother Maria Luisa Gavazzeni.
