At a ballet evening with his girlfriend Melanie Hamrick, the almost 80-year-old Stones frontman looks younger than he has in a long time.
Normally, Mick Jagger, 79, and his girlfriend Melanie Hamrick, 36, keep their private lives largely out of the public eye. Aside from paparazzi photos, the couple rarely gives celebrity photographers a chance to snap them side by side. Celebrating their visit to the American Ballet Theater summer show in New York City, they made a generous exception last Thursday evening (July 22) and offered photographers a rare chance to get a close-up look at the glamorous couple.
Stylish appearance on the red carpet
For their couple’s night out (without their six-year-old son Deveraux Octavian Basil Jagger), the two dressed up properly. Hamrick appeared in a bright red Dolce & Gabbana dress made from red tulle, while Jagger flaunted his still stunningly slim frame in a well-fitting dark suit, black and white polka dot shirt and a pair of brand new black trainers.
Melanie Hamrick’s hotly debated ‘promise ring’
For Melanie Hamrick, the performance offered a perfect opportunity to show off her diamond ring, which her partner had put on her finger, which had been a hot topic for several weeks. Only two days earlier, the former ballerina had to in an interview with the US magazine “People” counter rampant speculation about an engagement and imminent marriage. There she made it clear that the eye-catching piece of jewelry was by no means an engagement ring, but a “promise ring”.
Shared love of ballet
It was no coincidence that Hamrick attended the opening of American Ballet Theater’s summer show “Like Water For Chocolate” with Mick Jagger. The current choreographer herself was part of the ensemble of this institution as a ballerina for fifteen years until she retired in 2019. Mick Jagger is also a passionate ballet lover and has been keeping fit with his own ballet training for decades.
