A top secret version ofOffice 365 come. This Monday, March 28, Microsoft announced on its blog the upcoming launch of a version of its office automation suite reserved for US government agents.

The objective, to secure the work environment of the various departments, as the Redmond firm had done with the deployment of a secret version of Azure intended for the United States Department of Defense and other sensitive agencies of the country.

An Office 365 version for governments

This new ultra-secure ecosystem developed in collaboration with the Pentagon is currently undergoing review and approval with an expected launch no earlier than mid-2022. This exclusive environment will run the latest Office 365 Government productivity, security, and collaboration apps. ” We have a comprehensive approach to building, testing, integrating and auditing our products to comply with government regulations, which will help ensure secure and private environments Microsoft explains in its blog post.

Recall that this version of Office 365 is part of the collaboration between the Pentagon and Microsoft after the American Department of Defense abandoned its JEDI contract, a 10 billion dollar offer for cloud computing which was to be awarded to Microsoft. The government had re-tendered another contract for cloud computing billions after Amazon filed a lawsuit challenging the original decision.
