In the spring of last year, Microsoft announced that it would stop production of its keyboards, mice and other PC accessories in order to focus on Surface products.
Although the company was best known to consumers for its Windows and Xbox products, Microsoft’s computer peripherals still had a few devoted fans, particularly for its ergonomic keyboards – fans who were no doubt dismayed at the thought of losing their keyboard or their favorite mice.
But it seems these fans are in luck, because Microsoft’s products will now live on – under a different name.
This is the first time that Incase manufactures computer accessories
Incase, a company known primarily for its protective bags, cases and sleeves, will take over production of some of Microsoft’s best-selling products, such as the Sculpt Ergonomic Keyboard, Mobile Modern Mouse, Wireless Desktop 850 Mouse and Modern Webcam. These products will have a hybrid name, namely “Incase Designed by Microsoft”.
This is the first time that Incase has manufactured computer accessories.
In addition to retaining fan-favorite products, the company also announced plans to develop new products under the same name. Twenty-three products will be retained, including the Sculpt keyboard and mouse, Wireless Comfort keyboard and mouse, Modern mobile headset, and Modern webcam.
The exact price has not been announced
The licensing agreement covers not only the names of the products, but also their manufacturing components, meaning they are expected to remain unchanged from their previous versions.
The exact price was not announced, but in a press release about the partnership, Marshall Clark, chief executive of Onward (the company that owns Incase), said the product portfolio transition would begin immediately and consumers should find their favorite products on the shelves from the second quarter of 2024.
