The Microsoft Edge browser is inspired by competition like Vivaldi and has a sidebar that should help users increase their productivity.
Microsoft announces the integration of a new feature for its Edge web browser. It’s about a lateral bar which should prove to be very practical since it allows you to display content without having to change tabs. In any case, the Redmond company is full of praise for this additional interface element, which it says helps the user not to lose his concentration by scattering between tasks and to increase his productivity.
Microsoft advises that this sidebar includes today search, discovery, tools, games, Office and Outlook, but that other features will be implemented in the future. For example, you can open any service in the Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, OneDrive, etc.) from this bar, and even search there directly for the file you are interested in launching in order to save time.
Microsoft Edge: a sidebar to improve productivity
With Outlook, you can monitor your inbox or check your calendar without interrupting your web browsing or watching a video. To plan a vacation, Edge allows you to check flight options with the open calendar right next to it. It is also possible to write an email while fishing for information on any website.
A discover button is also available on this sidebar. By activating it, you get information, article suggestions and videos related to the page you are viewing. The browser is also equipped with this new feature with quick access to its gaming section, which contains a variety of free casual and arcade games. Various tools such as a calculator or a speedtest to measure the speeds of its connection are integrated.
The sidebar is customizable, it is possible to add and remove features from it, and hide it completely. Its deployment began with English-speaking users on the latest version of Edge. We do not yet know when it will be available in France.
