AT to everyone’s surprise, Microsoft has formalized a newcomer to the Xbox range.
No “new console” strictly speaking, but rather an Xbox Series S with the false air of Xbox Series X. We explain.
The Xbox Series S… back in black!
Last night, a few days after a disappointing PlayStation Showcase, it was Xbox’s turn to give a preview of the games to come, including Fable, Starfield, Hellblade 2… As part of a perfectly mastered and rhythmic conference (but sometimes lacking a bit of gameplay), Microsoft also made a point of formalizing a new console!
No Project Q-style portable console like at PlayStation here, but rather a new version of the small Xbox Series S. No makeover in sight, it’s the same small console launched in November 2020, alongside the Xbox Series X, but which is now available in Carbon Black.
The same, with 1 TB of storage
” Carbon Black finish is the same sleek, modern finish found on Xbox Series X and Xbox Wireless Controller explains Microsoft. The console therefore displays the same performance as the current Xbox Series S, but will however be distinguished by a new color, not to mention an increased storage space.
Indeed, if Xbox Series S players have to juggle the 512 GB (theoretical) on board the machine, the Xbox Series S Carbon Black will have a total of 1 TB of SSD storage. Excellent news as we can guess the daunting weight of certain games to come, starting with Forza Motorsportthe next flight simulator or Starfield. Recall that the recent Star Wars: Jedi Survivoralready required close to 140 GB of space on Xbox!
Of course, the console is 100% compatible with all the Xbox accessories already available, and is more than ever cut out for the Xbox Game Pass, the machine still being without a disc drive.
This new Xbox Series S Carbon Black will be available from September 1, at a price of €349.99.
