The Surface Pro 9 and Surface Laptop 5 are already two years old. This is why Microsoft is expected to announce their successors during its next virtual event to be held at the end of the month.

“A new era of work”

It is via a new web page that Microsoft has confirmed the holding of its next conference, Advancing the new era of work with Copilot (“Advance towards a new era of work with Copilot”, Editor’s note). It will be held on March 21 at 6 p.m. (Paris time) and will take place remotely – there will be no face-to-face meeting with the press or the public.

From what the title and brief description posted on the new page suggest, Microsoft is expected to emphasize generative AI at this event. The software giant should present its latest advances in AI for its Windows 11 OS and for Copilot. These new features should be linked in one way or another to new products in the Surface range.

Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6

The real stars of the event, however, will be the highly anticipated Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6. These new products, which Microsoft is expected to announce during the virtual event, would mark the brand’s first computers in the era of AI PCs. “AI PCs” are called as such because their hardware allows them to better support generative AI-based tools and features.

Specifically, the Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 are expected to feature next-generation processors to better support running AI applications and bypass the need to send data to AI-based servers. on the cloud – a major feature of AI PCs.

According to information from Windows Central, the new Surfaces should be equipped with the latest Intel Core Ultra processors for the first models, then Snapdragon X Elite processors in a second phase. Thanks to these new hardware features, the new Surfaces could experience a major improvement in performance compared to their predecessors.

You will be able to follow the event live on the internet, probably directly on the Microsoft site or on YouTube – Microsoft has not yet shared a viewing link. You will also find all the brand’s announcements on ZDNet.fr.
