Samsung could well revolutionize its mid-range Exynos chips by equipping them with GPUs signed AMD, as it had already done on the Exynos 2200 of the Galaxy S22. However, gaming performance would not soar.
Since the release of the Exynos 2200 chip last year, Samsung and AMD have been collaborating closely on high-end Exynos chips. If the CPU part is provided by the traditional ARM cores, it is AMD that takes care of the GPU of the SoCs. Mid-range Exynos chips will benefit from an AMD GPU
According to his information, future mid-range Exynos chipsets, such as the Exynos 1480 and 1430, will use an RDNA graphics part from AMD. However, he clarifies that users should not keep their expectations of gaming performance too high because this graphics part will help Samsung’s chipsets in the field of imaging.
So this is an interesting approach that makes perfect sense when you consider that these are mid-range smartphones and not flagships. If these do not have high-refresh screens or a CPU powerful enough for certain video games, Samsung then has every interest in improving the photo part of smartphones rather than the gaming experience.
If AMD GPUs do arrive at the same time as the upcoming Exynos 1430 and Exynos 1480, that means the first smartphones to use them could be released early next year. The Galaxy A55 could also be the first to benefit from itbut it is still far too early to be sure.
