MidJourney aspires to develop artificial intelligence capable of bringing a 3D virtual world to life. In the same way that AI is currently able to generate an image from a prompt, this future AI could take the video game or cinema industry a giant step forward.
From generating images to simulating a 3D world
Launched in July 2022, MidJourney is a pioneering online tool for image generation using artificial intelligence. It is also one of the AIs whose generated renderings are the most realistic. If MidJourney is used by a large number of individuals, we note the marked interest of video game professionals in this tool. Recently, the service introduced the Consistent Characters feature, allowing you to save a character created from a prompt in order to clone it in other locations or dressed in different outfits.
MidJourney now intends to develop a generator of entire 3D worlds. As Nick St. Pierre, CEO of Midjourney, indicates, the company is working on the development and improvement of these three axes: 3D, video and real time. Subsequently, it would be possible to combine them to simulate virtual worlds from a simple prompt entered by the user… A prospect which could indeed relaunch the craze around the metaverse, and revive interest in technologies related to virtual reality!
