Millions of vaccination certificates expire at the end of January: What to look out for when boosted

Within the EU, digital vaccination certificates expire nine months after the primary vaccination. This is a requirement of the EU Commission. Germany must then also implement the corresponding rule. For German citizens this means:

  • Those who receive two vaccinations
  • received a vaccination and had a recovery or
  • got a recovery and a recovery vaccination now have to pay attention.

Normally, the person is then no longer considered vaccinated.

The new requirement is that vaccination status is maintained after a booster or recovery. In other words, anyone who has not yet received a third vaccination should do so quickly.

What is explosive is that the federal and state summit did not deal with the topic of “expiry of digital vaccination certificates”. Millions of Germans are soon threatened with a rude awakening.

What boosters have to watch out for

Yes. From February 1st, boosted plants will also have the status “invalid” in extreme cases. For this, however, when feeding the Vaccination certificates in the CovPass app went wrong being.

In principle, all German citizens must check whether all vaccinations have been assigned correctly. If this is not the case, those affected may be considered unvaccinated within Europe from February 1st. The second vaccination is fundamentally decisive.

If she correctly assigned to a person’s digital vaccination certificates became, can show the CovPass app. Simple scan all vaccination certificates and store them in the app.

  • Will only one QR code displayedhave to Boosted no problems to fear.
  • Will however, a second QR code played outlies a error before.

It applies the rule of thumb: Every citizen can just a QR code to have. A second QR code meansthat the Vaccination incorrectly assigned would. In exceptional cases, the vaccination status “vaccinated twice” applies. The third vaccination is considered a one-time vaccination (1/2) – but that is wrong.

Those affected should check the date of birth and their name on the digital vaccination certificate. Is the information on all documents identical? Then everything fits. If the middle name was forgotten, the date of birth was wrongly noted or even the name on one of the documents was entered incorrectly, those affected must act.

Each pharmacy can have the relevant forms changed. Those affected must present a vaccination certificate and ID card. From February 1st there could be a rush, so those affected should check now whether everything is correct.

When does the error appear?

With boosters, the error could already be noticed when checking the QR code via the CovPass check app.

Especially if those who want to be vaccinated were vaccinated for the second time before May 7, 2021 or if a basic immunization by means of recovery or recovery vaccination occurred on this date. Those affected must then expect the status “invalid”.
