minimum wages increase by 3%

The French Association of Banks (AFB) and all the trade unions representing the banking sector have agreed on a 3% increase in minimum wages in the branch, the social partners announced on Tuesday.

This agreement increases the 55 minimum wages of the classification by 3%, with a floor of 800 euros, the AFB said in a press release.

In August, the social partners agreed to raise the minimum wage to 5% above the Smic with an update clause in the event of a rise in the minimum wage.

The combination of these two agreements has the effect of increasing the first minima of the grid by 5.58% and bringing them to 8.9% above the Smic, detailed the AFB.

This 5.58% increase concerns the first 13 levels, said in a press release to the inter-union, made up of the SNB, the CFDT, the CGT, FO and the CFTC.

The demands of the inter-union were higher and justified by the economic context and the excellent results of the commercial banks, however specified the organizations.

But, in an inflationary situation which continues and after three years without any increase, for lack of having found a consensus, the trade unions did not want to penalize the employees, adds the text.

The agreement signed by the social partners entered into force on 1 April.
