“Animals are friends, partners, comforters and companions in life,” enthuses Mirja du Mont (47) during her visit to Tiertafel Hamburg eV. Together with presenter Jana Ina Zarrella (46), du Mont is currently working again as an ambassador for Fressnapf’s “animal-engaged” initiative. “Since my involvement, I know how many pet owners come to the animal food bank in desperation or shame so that their pets can get something to eat. And that’s exactly what we have to support them in doing,” explains the mother of two.

The actress herself has a cat, which she describes as a “permanent member of the family”. “Only people who have pets themselves can truly understand the deep connection they have with an animal,” continued du Mont. Together with Zarrella, she is supporting a Europe-wide wish tree campaign in which customers can take a wish list from the Christmas tree in the Fressnapf market until December 24th and fulfill it on site. For the first time this year, the pet supplies retailer is also offering this promotion online. This year, Tiertafel Hamburg eV is the recipient of the annual customer donation campaign, in which animal lovers across Europe can financially support animal welfare organizations by purchasing a donation tag.

That’s what Mirja du Mont wants for Christmas

“Every person who is better off in our society should get involved in social projects,” calls du Mont. This support is particularly important at Christmas time. And what does the actress herself want for Christmas? “I wish myself and my family health and that we can live more peacefully together again on our beautiful earth in the future,” said du Mont. The mother of two has already collected the gifts for her loved ones. “I hope I got the right thing for my children Fayn and Tara,” laughs the 47-year-old.

Like every year, Christmas Eve is celebrated at home in Hamburg with the family – children and parents. “I’m not experimenting at Christmas!” She also maintains cherished traditions to this day. “My children are not allowed to see the decorated Christmas tree until the presents are handed out. Then I ring a small bell and they come into the living room. This has become a fixed ritual.”

“All in all – not a nice 2023”

du Mont looks back on the year 2023 with mixed feelings. “This year there were some moments of horror due to the wars. The economic situation, job cuts, etc. don’t exactly make us jump on our feet and personally there were a few illnesses in my circle of friends. So all in all – not a nice year!”, explains the actress . “Luckily, my family exists and we can always rely on each other. This is my greatest gift and helps me through difficult times.”
