Monday November 20, 2023, Iris Mittenaere, juror of the 72nd edition of Miss Universe, spoke via his Instagram account, in order to respond to the accusations of which she was the victim. Under a photo of her with Diane Leyre, Miss France 2022 and candidate for the world competition, she commented: “The universe has a new queen. And I was finally able to hold my second Miss Universe in my arms”in order to congratulate the beauty queen despite his defeat this Saturday, November 18, 2023. However, his support did not seem obvious to all Internet users. In comments from another publicationan Internet user attacked Diego El Gaoui’s fiancée, criticizing her lack of support: “I’m quite disappointed in you. As luck would have it, you’re on the jury, so France goes straight out of the Top 20. We had a crazy chance of winning, you didn’t have to be on the jury this year“. Accusations contested by the former Miss Universe, who therefore explained herself in return.
Iris Mittenaere would like to see a French woman win the competition
If Iris Mittenaere, in her capacity as juror, did not have the right to communicate with Diane Leyre throughout the duration of the competition, she wanted to reaffirm her support to her subscribers after the results. “In reality, I really wanted Diane to go far…And I’m sad that not everyone agreed with me… I explained how the ratings work if you’re interested. But for me it was part of my Top 20. I think that objectively she was one of the most beautiful girls and that she has a perfect personality for a year of Miss Universe“, she explained on Instagram. To silence rumors concerning any jealousy, Miss Universe 2016 went further by affirming that she would have liked to see another French beauty queen one day win the title: “It’s going to be eight years guys, on the contrary, with a new winner it would have been great for the competition and we would have once again highlighted this beautiful title. I wasn’t the first and I won’t be the last to have it. Being 2 or 10 only strengthens the power of the competition in the country, as in the Philippines”.
