Best rating of the series – and in Tom Cruise’s career: “Mission: Impossible 7” clears at Rotten Tomatoes.

“Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One” only starts in cinemas on July 13, but the first reviews are already there. And they are spectacular. On the Review site “Rotten Tomatoes” is the seventh part of the series with Tom Cruise (61) with 98 percent positive ratings. An extremely rare result.

“Rotten Tomatoes” has evaluated 128 reviews so far (as of July 7th), and a few more will be added before the theatrical release. Films with an average of 98 percent or more often have few reviews to base their calculations on.

Best rating in Tom Cruise’s career

The seventh part of “Mission Impossible” is the highest rated of the series on “Rotten Tomatoes”. The action saga has been delivering reliably since 1996. Part 6 of 2018 held the previous record on the review collection page. “Mission: Impossible: Fallout” achieved an average of 97 percent. The negative record goes to Part 2 from 2000 with 56 percent.

“Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One” is also a career highlight for Tom Cruise on “Rotten Tomatoes”. Parts seven and six of “Mission Impossible” are followed by “Top Gun: Maverick” with “only” 96 percent.

Numbers at “Rotten Tomatoes” not really meaningful

The “Rotten Tomatoes” score is not really meaningful. After all, with the 98 percent positive ratings, no distinction is made between sensationally good and tolerably positive reviews.

The criticism level can be somewhat more differentiated about “Metacritic“, the competitor of “Rotten Tomatoes”. “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One” receives 81 out of 100 possible points here. Also a very strong value. But it is only based on 42 reviews.
