Ghibli fans can finally rejoice! After the announcement of its release date, the animated film by maestro Hayao Miyazaki, The Boy and the Heron, reveals its first images.
Expected for the cinema next November 1, Hayao Miyazaki’s new feature film, The Boy and the Heron, has revealed its magical and supernatural trailer. These first images are in the purest style of the Japanese maestro, evoking in particular Princess Mononoke or Spirited Away.
The story will follow Mahito, an 11-year-old boy. After the disappearance of his mother in a fire, he must leave Tokyo to go and live in the countryside in the village where she grew up. He settles with his father in an old mansion located on a huge estate where he meets a gray heron.
The latter gradually becomes his guide and helps him through his discoveries and questions to understand the world around him and unravel the mysteries of life. The Boy and the Heron, released on July 14 in Japan, was seen by nearly 5 million people.
The feature film seduced spectators, who thought they were “like in a dream”, seeing in this film “David Lynch at Ghibli.” These first opinions made French fans tremble with impatience, who could no longer wait for the release date in France.
This is scheduled for November 1st. The film will be previewed in France during the Lyon Lumière Festival on Tuesday October 17.
Note that The Boy and the Heron is a free adaptation of the novel And you, how will you live? written by Genzaburo Yoshino and published in 1937.
