Biontech is checking locations in Rwanda and Senegal
In August, the German vaccine manufacturer Biontech announced that it would manufacture malaria and tuberculosis vaccines in Africa and that it was examining the development of sustainable production possibilities in Rwanda and Senegal. Clinical studies for the mRNA vaccines are scheduled to begin at the end of 2022.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), a center for the production of mRNA vaccines is also to be built in South Africa with the help of a consortium. In the country on the southern tip of the continent, corona vaccines should be produced within nine to twelve months. So far, Africa has imported the majority of all vaccines. (SDA)
