Over the past few days, many videos showing parents picking up their rioting children from French cities have circulated on the Internet.
From the death of young Nahel, a 17-year-old teenager killed on June 27 by police shooting during a road check in Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine), the street caught fire. In recent days, urban violence has enamelled the French territory. Many minors are among people arrested by law enforcement. An observation that prompted Éric Dupond-Moretti, the Keeper of the Seals, to recall the legal responsibility of parents young perpetrators of these acts. Also, a number of municipalities have decided to put in place a curfew. Those who do not respect it face penalties.
Over the past few hours, many parents went to pick up their children who had decided to participate in the riots. In videos broadcast on social networks, before being relayed by the media, we see fathers and mothers dispute their offspring. This Saturday, July 1, a journalist from Nice morning shared on his Twitter account one of these contents, which he captioned in these terms: “It’s parents’ night.”
