Launched in France on Wednesday December 19, 1990, Mom, I missed the planen is still a great Christmas classic, even 30 years after its release.
It will not have escaped you, it is (already!) the end of the year 2023, and the tradition still remains to enjoy, alone or with family, the traditional “ Christmas movies “. You may have discovered this film at the cinema during the 1990 end-of-year celebrations. Mom I missed the plane (Home Alone in original version), a film in which the McCallister family takes a plane to Paris to spend the Christmas holidays, before realizing that the youngest member of the family, Kevin, has been forgotten at home.
In 2022, Torrent Freak revealed that the film by Chris Columbus was, by far, the most pirated Christmas classic. And a year later, it is clear that the situation has not changed, and that the film is even more popular today.
Downloads explode at Christmas and New Year
Indeed, according to the data collected by the website, the interest in Mom I missed the plane began to intensify from mid-November. At the beginning of December, the average number of daily downloads had already doubled, and this is expected to explode in the coming days.
Indeed, in 2022, (illegal) downloads of the film peaked on December 24 and 25, but it is between December 31 and January 1 that the film (re)breaks records, with almost 50 000 downloads.
A few days ago, actor Macaulay Culkin (Kevin in the film) inaugurated his star on the Walk of Fame in Los Angeles. A ceremony which was held in the presence of actress Catherine O’Hara, who played her mother in the famous film.
The opportunity for fans from all over the world to witness a reunion that is moving to say the least. Finally, for those interested, remember that the film Mom I missed the plane is available, legally, on the Disney+ platform.

The Star universe, for its part, is starting to bear fruit by offering more and more original or exclusive series. It’s a shame, however, that the service continues to lose features and gain constraints.
