  • With “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters,” a Godzilla series will soon start on Apple TV+.
  • It plays in the so-called MonsterVerse, which so far consists of 4 films.
  • The streaming service also publishes the first images and information about the plot.

It has been known for some time that the Monsterverse films (“Godzilla”, “Kong: Skull Island”, “Godzilla II: King of the Monsters” and “Godzilla vs. Kong”) will be expanded to include a series on Apple TV+. So far, however, there have only been occasional reports about the cast and production. There was no name for the Kaijū project. But now the streaming service has announced what the series will be called: “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters”.

The sci-fi drama from Legendary Television and Apple TV+ will consist of 10 episodes and will begin after the events of the 2014 film “Godzilla.” After the giant lizard levels San Francisco, a pair of siblings find out that their father worked for the secret organization Monarch. She has been watching monsters like King Kong for decades. Her search for the truth ultimately leads her to officer Lee Shaw, played by Kurt Russell (“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2”).

Apple TV+ has released the first images of the Monsterverse series “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters”.

The plot spans three generations and highlights what secrets Monarch and Shaw, whose younger version is played by Kurt Russell’s son Wyatt (“The Falcon and The Winter Soldier”), are hiding from the world.

There is currently no start date for “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters”. The latest Monsterverse spin-off “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” may hit theaters before the series. As of now, the sequel to “Godzilla vs. Kong” is planned for 2024.
